This past weekend was the Hawaii Collectors Expo. There were many people and a lot of excitement in the air. It’s amazing to see how many different interests collectors have. The favorite on my list was the Hawaiian bottles of course. For those that didn’t have a chance to attend the expo here are some pictures of what the expo had to offer. A big mahalo to Shizu for providing these pictures for us.
In my opinion the bottles at the show was much better then last year, unfortunately some of the bottles where ridiculously over priced, for instance the Ponds Dairy that is pictured is well over priced…I seen a Arctic that I wanted to buy which is a 300-400 dollar bottle priced at 900 dollars!!!, the list goes on…there was a few good deals depending what seller you went to…What upset me is one my good friend who is a new collector was looking for a particular milk bottle, one of the guys we know was trying to sell that milk bottle to him for 475 , I was shocked that someone we knew was going there and trying to rip my friend off, my friend though did pickup the same milk bottle in better condition from another dealer that we also knew for 125.00…Sad that some people who is knowledgeable about prices try to over price bottles and rip-off new collectors…I been participating the last 3 years and know just about everyone there who is selling bottles…all in all the bottle show was positive and it was neat seeing all the different displays and other things that people collect besides bottles most of all it was nice to see some of my friends from the outer islands that I only see once a year or if I go to the outer islands…
